Welcome to Philomusica!
Philomusica is an auditioned
choral
ensemble presenting concerts in New Jersey since 1969. New voices
are always
welcome ... singers are invited to contact us to set up a time to
come to a
rehearsal and meet the singers and our director, Dennis Boyle.
Regular
auditions are held in September and January. For more
information on
auditions, visit our auditions page.
Our History of Musicmaking
Philomusica, founded in 1969, is an auditioned choir of over 40
voices
committed to excellence in choral sound, performance and
musicianship.
Under the direction of Dennis Boyle, the ensemble’s repertoire
ranges from early
sacred music to the great classical composers to the choral works of
the 20th century.
Mr. Boyle has a talent for exposing audiences to fresh, less
familiar pieces
and engaging them with interesting interpretations and details in
more familiar works.
Philomusica presents two series of concerts annually
in the greater Middlesex County area. It also performs
in special events, benefits, commemorations, and
tours. Its many performance venues have included St.
Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Canterbury Cathedral, the
New Jersey governor’s mansion, Alice Tully Hall at
Lincoln Center and most recently, St. Ignatius of
Loyola Church in New York City.
